Vertamae Grosvenor to Speak in Bahamas
Nassau, Bahamas
February 7, 8 & 9, 1998

Vertamae Grosvenor, will be the guest speaker at the South Ocean Beach Hotel & Golf Resort, Lyford Cay, on Sunday February 8, 1998. She will make her presentation during the Hannaian 1998 Winter Educational Conference & Retreat. The three day conference will feature seminars on copyrights, trademarks, patents and other intellectual property topics, including "Negotiating Entertainment Intellectual Property Contracts". A workshop on Internet processes and stock investment strategies will also be conducted. Participants from throughout the United States and the Bahamas will be in attendance and a special Continuing Legal Education program will be conducted for attorney participants. In addition , a portion of the conference will be devoted to "International Trade Opportunities".

Ms.Grosvenor is the host of National Public Radio's award-winning weekly half-hour documentary series, Horizons, describes herself as a "poet, actress, culinary anthropologist, and writer." But she is perhaps most familiar to public radio listeners for the memorable Horizons documentaries she has produced since 1983, such as Slave Voices: Things Past Telling, and for her thought-provoking commentaries on NPR's newsmagazine All Things Considered. Grosvenor received Robert F. Kennedy and Ohio State awards for Never Enough Too Soon, a documentary about Daufuskie Island, South Carolina; and a Cindy Award for a profile of writer Zora Neale Hurston. Grosvenor was honored with the prestigious James Beard Award for her NPR holiday series, Seasonings, which was recognized as 1995's "Best Radio Show on Food."

A former contributing editor to Essence magazine, Grosvenor has written for The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Washington Post, Life, Ms., Redbook, Ebony, and Viva. She has appeared on a wide range of television programs, from Ted Koppel's Nightline to The Galloping Gourmet.

Grosvenor is the host of the Public Television Series "The Americas' Family Kitchen with Vertamae Grosvenor".

She recently completed an acting role in the movie "Beloved", based on a novel by Tony Morrison, starring Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover, and directed by Jonathan Demme. She also served as the culinary consultant on the Movie.
