Preston Shannon Receives Three Grammy Nominations

Preston Shannon, Memphis Tennessee's answer for the revitalization of the historic music city's music industry has done it again. This time the Grammy Awards nominating process awarded his new album "All In Time" with three Grammy Nominations. Shannon received "Best Contemporary Blues Artist", "Album of the Year", and "Best New Artist" nominations. The Album was produced by legendary producer Willie Mitchell for Rounder Records, Shannon's record company for the past three years. Shannon was previously nominated for a Grammy for his last album "Midnight in Memphis" produced by Mitchell.

In an in depth interview with the Internet Broadcast show "The Entertainment Business Show" Shannon talked about the success of his music and his long journey to this point in his career. He also revealed some interesting aspects of the insides of the music business. The exclusive interview was conducted by Harlington Hanna Jr., Entertainment attorney and publisher.

The Shannon, Mitchell combination has at least one more album up their sleeve. Shannon talked about his plans for the new album scheduled for release in late 2000. The current album and the previous album also a collaboration with Mitchell are noteworthy in that Mitchell wrote many of the songs on them. Mitchell who helped launch the careers of some of Black music's greatest artist is probably best known for his long and successful collaborations with Al Green.

An interesting song on the album "Just Between Me and My Woman" parodies The recent scandal involving President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

The Shannon albums with songs written by Mitchell will probably engender great interest from collectors who value the work and style of the legendary producer. In the interview Shannon explained that the special recording techniques and production style used by Mitchell and which is clearly evident to the listener was one of the main reasons he insisted on having Mitchell as the producer.
